Nope, it’s not itchy because of that. You may need to get used to it (my case), or you don’t tolerate it well. I suggest you keep going and see if the itch goes away after a while and then reevaluate. You could also try a minoxidil with a lower alcohol formula.
Comb when wet. Brushes are our best friends, but when our hair is wet, the wide-toothed comb needs to come out. Thicker brushes can damage and break wet hair, while wide-toothed comes are much gentler.
Packed with plant nutrients, an herbal hair rinse is the perfect way to nourish and condition your hair. After shampooing, I usually follow-up with an herbal infusion. My favorite is reetha-shikakai rinse. But you can create your own depending on your hair’s need. You can choose one or more of the following hair nourishing herbs: chamomile, amla, shikakai, hibiscus, rosemary, marigold, lavender, fenugreek (methi), lemon, orange, amla, sage, reetha, marshmallow, nettle and mint.
The majority of American men and women are affected by hair loss, known as alopecia, at some point in their lives, according to experts. Androgenetic alopecia (AGA), commonly referred to as male- or female-pattern baldness, accounts for about 95 percent of hair loss in the U.S., according to Better Nutrition magazine. Experts say pattern baldness is genetic and inherited equally in men and women. However, the hair-loss gene can only express itself when dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a male hormone, is present. Because estrogen usually suppresses male-hormone production, women don’t typically experience pattern baldness until after menopause has begun; although, even the slightest hormone shift can cause hair loss in women.
Other medical conditions — most commonly telogen effluvium and seborrheic dermatitis — can also cause hair loss, but most people can trace their follicular woes back to androgenetic alopecia, so we focused our search there. We started with more than 200 products, including all-natural solutions and high-tech gadgets, while skipping treatments that focus only on volumizing or thickening hair. We also limited our scope to the scalp, and left out specialty products designed only for eyebrows or beards.
Loading your scalp with hair products that contain harsh chemicals will make your hair brittle and more prone to falling out. Instead, go for shampoos that are free of any sulfate, silicone or paraben. This way, your hair will always remain healthy.
These salts also help to stabilize the texture and consistency of products, which is why castor oil is used in so many cosmetics, including hair loss prevention shampoo and other skin care treatments.
FUE can give very natural results. The advantage over strip harvesting is that FUE harvesting negates the need for large areas of scalp tissue to be harvested, so there is no linear incision on the back of the head and it doesn’t leave a linear scar. Because individual follicles are removed, only small, punctate scars remain which are virtually not visible and any post-surgical pain and discomfort is minimized. As no suture removal is required, recovery from Micro Grafting FUE is less than 7 days.
Because so many things can cause hair loss, a dermatologist acts like a detective. A dermatologist may begin by asking questions. The dermatologist will want to know whether the hair loss happened suddenly or gradually. Knowing this helps to eliminate causes.
This may sound crazy, but other hair loss treatments follow a similar logic. Ingredients such as peppermint oil are included in highly concentrated oils under the pretense they stimulate the follicles.

Your hair is most brittle when it is wet. Therefore, brushing hair in a wet state increases the chances of hair fall. It is also advisable to avoid brushing your hair frequently as this increases the chances of hair loss. In case your hair is tangled, gently use your fingers to separate your hair strands and wait for it to dry before brushing.

My scalp is dry, itchy, and irritated everywhere. I’ve been using H&S Clinical Strength shampoo for 2-3 years and its been pretty good at keeping it under control. I’ve been using rogaine for about 1 year now and I’m trying to avoid propecia if possible. Recently my hairline has quickly recede, and I’m not sure what to do. My friend said to start using nizoral every couple days. Do you recommend Nizoral for every few days? If so, what conditioner do you recommend and what shampoo do you recommend for the other days of the week when not using Nizoral? Thanks for your help – great site.
When researchers are already able to prove that hair multiplication or hair cloning is truly effective in treating baldness, then an FDA approval will be necessary. That means the waiting time gets longer before the process will start to be administered on patients.
About this time last year, the news was abuzz with the story of 25-year old Kyle Rhodes, a man whose head had become entirely bald, eyelashes included, because of his alopecia areata, first diagnosed when he was two. Like Lazarus rising out of a beauty salon, though, once Rhodes was treated with Xeljanz (tofacitinib), a drug ordinarily used for rheumatoid arthritis, his hair grew back after a scant eight months.

It is the first choice of herbalists to treat hair loss. Actually, it blocks the formation of dihydrotestosterone, a hormone thought to kill hair follicles, leading to androgenic alopecia. Consume about 160 mgs of saw palmetto on a regular basis twice a day.
These therapies may slow down or prevent further hair loss, and they could stimulate regrowth from follicles that have been dormant but still viable. However, they can do little for follicles that have already become inactive. Using them at an earlier stage of hair loss will see more favorable results.
About 70 percent of men and 40 percent of women go through some degree of hair thinning as they age, almost usually as a result of androgenic alopecia (AGA), otherwise known as male or female pattern baldness. Though a number of products and treatments currently exist to fight back against hair loss, a so-called permanent “cure” would probably be one of the most exciting scientific discoveries to come along in a long time, right behind fat-free bacon and unlosable house keys. But is such a cure actually even possible? And if so, just how far from it are we?
