The American Hair Loss Association recognizes that hair loss is an extremely emotionally distressing disease that can make those afflicted particularly vulnerable. For this reason, The AHLA recommends against purchasing any hair loss product that is not approved by the FDA or recommended by The American Hair Loss Association.

Domen, enjoy your work. Can you expand on your suggestion regarding not having a transplant and wait for new coming treatments? Is there something on the horizon that you’ve touched on before that I missed seeing?? Is DHI the new gold standard for transplants? To your knowledge, Is this method being used in the states yet? Thanks Sir!
It’s easier to hang on to your hair than replace it once it’s gone. But be careful as you explore your options. Most “miracle”products and treatments are shams. When in doubt, your doctor or a dermatologist may be able to help.
As the only FDA-approved proven ingredient, the drug has years of research to back it up—and about 50% of women using it see improvement. “Minoxidil can enhance the size of the follicle so that it produces a bigger strand of hair,” says Wilma Bergfeld, a Cleveland Clinic dermatologist. Try Women’s Rogaine Treatment for Hair Loss & Hair Thinning Once-A-Day Minoxidil Foam ($36 for a 4-month supply, amazon.com).
Propecia is a prescription drug approved by the FDA for handling male pattern hair loss. It has a good success rate for certain specific baldness patterns, but has some serious side effects that you need to be aware of. The prescription is expensive and is generally not covered by most insurance companies. And there is no satisfaction guarantee.
Can wearing a baseball cap make you go bald? Nope. Running fingers through your hair won’t cause it, either. Neither will combing, brushing, twisting, or styling. Just be gentle so you don’t break the strands.
I’ve used Rogaine for several years and if used twice a day as recommended, it works well. I don’t like the “foam”, only the liquid. The foam tends to make my hair a bit ‘greasy’ or shall I say ‘oily.’ Perhaps that adds to my hair being a little oily, naturally.
Spironolactone (Aldactone) is primarily used to treat fluid build-up due to heart failure, kidney disease, or liver scarring. It’s also used for treating high blood pressure, low blood potassium, excessive hair growth in women, and transgender hormone therapy.
Rogaine’s active ingredient, minoxidil, has been clinically proven to slow hair loss and regrow some hair, though the American Hair Loss Association cautions the long-term results can be disappointing.
Physicians are reluctant to use systemic treatment (a pill or other form of internal treatment that affects your entire system) unless they know that the hair loss is due to an excess of androgen in the system or a sensitized “over-response” to the so-called “normal” amounts of androgen in the system. That’s because these systemic treatments may lower the body’s androgen levels. Therefore, physicians often choose topical treatments (those that are applied directly to the scalp).
Most these ingredients are good, Like AVC. But using eggs everyday seems ridiculous!! I found a few months ago a formula with every holistic ingredient for growing hair… Probably not supposed to say this but why make you suffer longer…Biotopic#6. I used Rogaine too once, but I didn’t like it. nothing happened and my head itched a lot. I recommend going all natural if this is something we balding guys have to do to keep our hair on are head for the rest of our lives. it only makes since. Either use some of these tips or just buy something created from natural ingredients.
I am 33 years old straight thin hair i am loosing too much of hair in front and it is very odd, my house is full of my hair and even in office please suggest some home remedy for me. [email protected]
“There’s this guy, a regular caller on my radio show, who had his head disfigured by a terrible hair transplant,” says Spencer Kobren, founder and president of the American Hair Loss Association and author of The Bald Truth: The First Complete Guide to Preventing and Treating Hair Loss. “He purposely became a New York City cop so he could wear a hat.” And he refused promotions so he could remain a beat cop and keep wearing the hat.
While there are many causes for hair loss, the most likely cause is genetics. Finding out whether or not hair loss is caused by genetics or another reason can help determine the best course of treatment.
Similarly out of fashion are flap-type procedures, where a flap of hair from a hair-bearing area is partially removed, swung around, and attached to a frontal area. But this can lead to scarring or death or a portion of the scalp.
That said, it seems that spot treating with minoxidil does work (even for the front of the hair), but my concern is that I read that after a few months minoxidil can cause shedding in other parts of the hair, even when not applied to those sections. Do you know anything about this?
This homemade shampoo will remove all the oil and dirt from your scalp and hair giving you healthier shiny hair with lots of volume. Use this amla herbs mix whenever you shampoo your hair for about 2 months. You will love the pace at which your hair grows.
I’m surprised there’s no mention of Monat, a USA based company making naturally based products that have been clinically proven to regrow hair. The products contain Capixyl & Prolactin, amongst other beneficial ingredients and they are free of parabens, sulfates, harsh salt systems, phthalates, PEG, DEA/MEA, harmful colors & harmful fragrances. All products are cruelty & 100% vegan.
Best product I’ve ever used, and I’ve tried lots of products. I only use it once a day morning if I’m not washing my hair or early evening. Read instructions and make sure you allow NO dripping on face and make sure you clean hands thoroughly to not transfer product to face…I made that mistake and had to purchase an epilator. But it’s worth it…. Hair loss is Sad. I was seriously thinning more every year with bald pattern on top. No I don’t have tons of hair now, but hair has grown in, no bald patches and its thicker. I was wearing wig, but can now wear my own hair after 4 mths of use. Don’t be alarmed if hair sheds at first, per instructions its normal.
