“Those with thinning hair have fewer or finer hairs, meaning that there is less surface area for sebum (oil) to be distributed over. As a result, roots tend to get greasy faster, creating limpness,” Kingsley explains. “Cleanse regularly with a body building shampoo to give hair added volume and remove excess oils, grease, and dirt.”
Ask your doctor if you should take finasteride. Finasteride (marketed under Propecia and Proscar) is an oral prescription pill and somewhat more effective than minoxidil. It works by binding to the enzyme that would otherwise convert free testosterone to DHT.
They’ve come a long way. It takes time and research to find the right one, though, because there’s a wide range in cost and quality. And hairpieces also need regular maintenance, which can run between $60 and $300 per month. When you’re shopping for one, try to match your own hair color, thickness, and curl.

If you feel that your loss of hair problem is something connected with menopause, getting the most effective treatment will not be too hard to achieve. There are actually many natural treatments and products being sold freely in the market that are effective.
If you’re wondering how to stop hair from falling out, aloe vera is a great home remedy for treating hair loss. Aloe vera works to sooth and calm a damaged scalp, creating a healthy environment for hair cells to replenish and flourish. Aloe also helps clean up sebum, an oil that clogs follicles and prevents hair from growing back. To effectively use this natural hair loss treatment, simply massage pure aloe vera gel directly along your scalp, or find an aloe vera-based shampoo.

Hi Akanksha, be more gentle yourself. Crash dieting causes lot of stress on your body and your hair gets affected too. Include coconut oil/cream in your diet. Also read this post, it will help you in the hair regrowth.
I’m 33 and I still have quite a full hair line. I was facing mild hair loss until recently I’m noticing a lot of shedding, I’ve been on Propecia for the past year though. I’m not sure if Propecia is not effective on me anymore or it was kind of limiting hair fall until now. I’m even doubting that it could be MPB but do you think The Big Three would also help even if it wasn’t an MPB case?
How does Minoxidil works ? – Minoxidil is a vasodilator. It enlarges blood vessels and works on the active hair follicles by increasing blood flow and, subsequently, nutrition to the weaker hair. Thus, Minoxidil only works on active hair follicles and not the dying or the dead ones. This preventive remedy prevents further hair fall and reduces the rate of ‘hair follicle miniaturization’ that causes the hair to weaken before dying of completely. The follicles enlarged by Minoxidil tend to remain in the growth phase for a longer period of time. Thus, Minoxidil hair loss cure acts as a “life support” for the dying hair.
Bone broth or a protein powder from bone broth is another smart idea if you’re looking to improve your hair quality. Bone broth is rich in protein, collagen, gelatin, glucosamine, chondroitin and key minerals often missing from the average diet. These vital nutrients support optimal hair health, as well as health of skin and nails. There are so many delicious recipes that make it easy to incorporate bone broth powder into your diet. One of my favorite recipes is Paleo Bone Broth Protein Pancakes.
There are also two drugs on the market today that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat pattern baldness or thinning. The first one is minoxidil, commonly known commercially as Rogaine, and it can be used by both men and women. You may experience hair regrowth or a decreased rate of hair loss, but the growth is not permanent and will stop if you stop using it. Some common side effects may include severe scalp irritation, undesirable growth of facial hair, chest pain, rapid heart rate (tachycardia) and more.
Minoxidil can be effective, especially in the short term. It is available as a generic medication and over the counter for the treatment of androgenic alopecia, a form of hair loss, in men and women. But it’s a hassle to apply, makes your scalp itch, and makes your hair look greasy and thin while it’s in. The best way around this problem is to only apply it at night, which is almost as effective as applying it twice a day. But from my experience, it’s still too much of a hassle, and it’s not fun waking up in the morning and going to the gym with minoxidil in your hair.
