Thanks. My shedding still hasn’t stopped. Now on month 14 of propecia, + keto + minox. I talked to my Dr about trying DUT . . . he said no given it isn’t FDA approved. But I’m thinking of increasing my dose of propocia from 1.25mg (1/4 of a proscar pill) to 2.5mg (so take half a pill. Anything wrong with doing that???

I’m 33 and I still have quite a full hair line. I was facing mild hair loss until recently I’m noticing a lot of shedding, I’ve been on Propecia for the past year though. I’m not sure if Propecia is not effective on me anymore or it was kind of limiting hair fall until now. I’m even doubting that it could be MPB but do you think The Big Three would also help even if it wasn’t an MPB case?

7. Herbs – When looking for natural remedies for hair loss, herbs are among the most sought out solutions. Lavender, rosemary, and thyme have been shown to help hair growth and prevent thinning or balding. Try either massaging the essential oils into your hair after shampooing, or you can make an herb tea using any of the herbs. The first option will likely have a more direct positive effect.

Spironolactone or the more popular brand name Aldactone is in a class of drugs called potassium-sparing diuretics (water pill). It is used to reduce the amount of fluid in your body without causing the loss of potassium. It is also used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and edema (swelling) and used to treat potassium deficiency and hyperaldosteronism (a hormonal disorder).

I have a rather unique story and thought I would share it. First, I chose Equate for the simple reason I am paying substantially less than I would had I purchased a brand name with the same ingredient, Minixodil, and strength. With that said, I purchased Equate and started using it immediately after bilateral hernia surgery. I was under anesthesia and read a few reports that anesthesia, may cause temporary thinning of hair. My hair is thin and if I were to lose some hair, even if it was temporary, I am sure it would make me uncomfortable. So, I figured, why not use Minixodil for what I believed would strengthen and prevent hairs that may be vulnerable to falling out, not fall out. And being I never used it, maybe add some thickness to my hair. Here is where I got VERY lucky. Minixodil, works its magic on the Crown (Vertex) of the head or scalp. (I have heard from people who used it claim they saw thickness towards the top) For me, I not only saw thickness in the Crown area, but also top and front and I figured out why this happened. Some time ago, I had hair transplants. My doctor moved hair from the crown (the donor sites) to the front and top. (he did an unbelievable job by the way). There is not doubt, some of the transplants did not hold, and it is to be expected, but won’t be noticed once the regrowth starts taking place. It is also important to note, it is not so much that Minixodil works its magic on the crown area of the scalp, but rather, it is the hair follicles that are located in the crown area of the scalp are genetically coded to NOT fall out. (unlike the follicles on top and front of scalp). So, the transplants that were moved to the front of my head, and the ones that didn’t take hold, it is my belief that Minixodil stimulated those dormant follicles to grow hair. Hence, I had growth on the top and front, as well as the crown area of my scalp. In addition, I was ready to get another round of hair transplants and would have, but due to an unforeseen, and serious event, that plan came to a screeching halt. However, with this other unexpected event, that is, the unexpected hair growth, my hair looks pretty awesome. All I expected was to keep my hair from thinning a bit, “if” in fact, the anesthesia might cause that to happen. Talk about luck. Anyway, for the price, do try it. Also, it was early in my third month that I started to notice the regrowth. In addition, I have heard that people who have recently started losing hair in the front, even a year past, Minixodil may stimulate the growth of those areas. Best of luck, Guys and Girls, and remember, if you start to freak out over hair loss, DON’T. I am not here to sell or promote Hair Transplantation, but….. they work.

Possessing Rapunzel-like strands is no easy feat—ask any girl who’s gobbled down countless biotin pills and vitamin E supplements only to be greeted with the same lackluster strands. There are a lot of factors that contribute to hair growth (or lack thereof), but one of the most overlooked is physical stimulation—as in, massaging the heck out of your scalp. Turns out, giving yourself a scalp massage using some key natural ingredients can help stimulate hair growth and make your strands look more Blake Lively–esque. Or, there’s the whole egg yolk egg mask thing—or why not try a hot oil castor oil treatment? There are plenty of natural treatments that will give you the hair of your dreams—all you have to do is look to your kitchen for your necessary supplies.

Cimetidine has been used to treat hirsuitism in women (excess facial hair growth) and has been studied in women with androgenic alopecia showing promising results. Because of the high doses needed to achieve it’s hair raising results, men should not take cimettidine to treat their hair loss due to possible feminizing effects including adverse sexual side effects.

I wish to add that a year and half ago, I was on only Minoxidil 10% (not 5% and also not on Finestride – to be safe after reading all the discouraging posts) for almost 9 months. The only thing it did was to give a gel-like effect..but was extremely flaky!
