The bottle lasts for a least a few months, and makes your hair feel clean and strong after use. The product does function to stop hair from coming out in big clumps, but users seem unsure of whether it actually stimulates new hair growth at all.

“Others are taking hair follicles out of human scalp and growing them with dermal papilla cells,” Cotsarelis says. “If they grow in culture, you might be able to recombine them with skin cells and form new follicles. This would let you expand the number of follicles you get for a hair transplant. This may not be that far off — five to 10 years, maybe. There’s very good evidence you will be able to do that.”

There are three cycles to hair growth. The first growing cycle lasts from 2 to 8 years. Then that hair goes into a transition phase for two to three weeks. Each strand’s follicle shrinks. The non-growing phase is when your hair takes a break and rests for 2 to 4 months.

Researchers from University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas have identified a protein called KROX20, which switches on cells in the skin and tells them to become hair. Furthermore, these hair precursor cells then go on to produce a protein called stem cell factor (SCF), which plays a critical role in hair pigmentation.

Ginger root oil may be applied to the scalp and hair on its own or combined with another oil (argan, olive, coconut, jojoba.)   Ginger increases circulation, combats dandruff, stimulates hair follicles to promote growth of new and existing hair.  A good recipe for preparing ginger root can be found here.

Hi I had the most amazing hair a woman would die for. Long silky shiny voluminous awesome hair. I did crash dieting in order to lose weight. Instead I lost all my hair. I stopee combing my hair since 5 years in fear of losing more. It hurts. A lot. All I want to know is, is it possible to regain the previous amount again. And how? Help. Thanks

To manage hair loss, I added one tablespoon of freshly ground flaxseeds to one glass of water and took it every morning. In other occasions, I added my flaxseeds treatment to my smoothies, salads, soups as well as other dishes for hair loss management. I also applied the mixture to my hair before bedtime in some circumstances. Indeed, flaxseed oil helped to strengthen my hair and prevent hair loss as was evidenced by reduced hair loss in the subsequent months.

Propecia works by inhibiting the formation of the DHT which causes hair loss. This can not only slow the rate of hair loss, but also reverse it. No one’s exactly sure how Minoxidil works meanwhile, but the fact that it does, has been verified by independent studies. Some scientists believe it works by opening up potassium channels in the scalp and increasing blood flow to the hair follicles. It is believed that adding MPG or Azelaic Acid to a formulation of high strength minoxidil can increase its effectiveness.

Hi Nicolette, start with natural shampoo and head massage. Put your focus on healthy living, making healthy food choices as oppose to weight loss. Include foods such as sesame seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, dates, aloe vera, rasins, beans and lentils in your diet.

Hair transplant surgery involves harvesting grafts from the back and sides of the head and replanting them in balding areas. While the surgery is pricey, the results are natural-looking and permanent, as opposed to topical and oral treatments that require a lifelong commitment. See our full review »

Zinc-rich foods — Zinc is yet another nutrient that’s key to overall hair health and a deficiency is linked with hair loss. Zinc is involved in tissue growth and repair including hair. High-zinc foods include grass-fed beef, pumpkin seeds and chickpeas.

On the other hand you mentioned people say it is not possible to grow back lost hair. How many people you know does nail rubbing for a that amount of time.Search in internet you will find growing a hair takes lots of time so bringing back lost hair will take time too.The maximum time I heard is 5 years which took a guy to bring back his hair by nail rubbing.Min time I heard is about a year.So I will do this nail rubbing till I reach the 5 year. Most people do not have time and want result sooner so they do not do nail rubbing. As a result they do not get back their hair and say once hair is lost it is lost forever.Key hair is the patience. But yeah I do not know if you will get back your hair or not as I am doing nail rubbing for only 9 months I can say safely that it will surely stop hair fall.Personal experience.

Hi. I have a question. When I was little, my mother always pulled my hair back into tight braids, & now I have very little hair on the sides. Will the treatments you suggested make it grow back, or is it gone for good? Thanks.

I have been bald for over 20 years now. I went to my barber for a trim in August and noticed more than a few strands of hair growing on the top of my head along with a full head of white fuzz. Since then the fuzz is still there and the hair keeps growing in. No change in diet or lifestyle.

I’m 18 and just recently moved away from home for college about two months ago. Since then, I’ve realised the amount of hair loss i have each day is a lot as compared to last time. I’ve only dyed my hair twice. Once was last November and the second time was 2 and a half months ago and both times were only dip dyes. The colour/bleach in no way touched my scalp but could this be the reason I’m losing hair? My hair doesn’t exactly come out when I comb or brush it but it usually comes off by itself. My hair used to be really thick to the point where i had to get it layered since it was too hot and too bulky but nowadays, I felt like my hair’s way flatter. My roommate tried to convince me that it’s normal loose up to 100 hairs per day but just last night after shower, I noticed at least more than 20 loose strands as I was leaving it to dry.

Androgenetic alopecia-This is the most common type of hair loss which is attributed to DHT. DHT stands for dihydrotestosterone. Basically, testosterone is the male hormone which is responsible for deep voice, strong muscles and genital structures that characterize men. Testosterone hormone acts on these tissues directly but on the scalp it causes a negative impact, especially on the hair follicles. Here, it gets converted into DHT that leads to hair loss. DHT builds up from stress and several other factors like improper diet, age, hormones etc. In women too, androgenetic hair loss can be blamed on DHT. Women undergo many hormonal changes during their lifetime specifically at puberty, childbirth and again during menopause. These changes wreak havoc on the skin and hair.

Your hair can tell a lot about your diet. Eating disorders plus lack of iron can contribute a significant time to hair fall, reasons being all the energy is directed to the vital areas of need. Balance what you eat to prevent hair loss Avoid sugary foods; they can deplete your body from nutrients making your body not being able to handle little stress then result in hair fall. Habits and choices in life can worsen a situation. Therefore, observe what you eat.

Massage is effective for the hair growth. It will prevent hair fall as well. For massage, you can make a mixture of two tablespoon honey, two tablespoon of olive oil and cinnamon powder. Blend it properly to make a paste. You can apply this paste to your scalp two times in a week to help in hair growth and to stop hair loss. Coconut milk massage will be helpful as well. You can use the extracts of fresh coconut to get the maximum benefits. You will have to massage it into your scalp and then wash it after thirty minutes.

For many people, losing their hair is distressing enough that they become willing to try just about any product. Sadly, there are plenty of products out there that are about as effective as snake oil in treating anything.

The onion juice’s unique high sulfur content which improved blood circulation to the hair follicles as well antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties were what fascinated me initially, but I was even awestruck by its ability to treat scalp infections that can cause hair loss! Heck, I experienced a significant reduction in dandruff and shingles. For use and direction, I grated onions and strained them to extract their juice. Next, I applied the liquid directly to my scalp and left if for half an hour before washing and drying. Later on, I shampooed them. I used onion juice massage up to three times every week until I started seeing there was a reduction of hair loss. Frankly speaking, I have never stopped using onion juice for hair loss massage!

Boil a few dried leaves of rosemary in a glass of water for some time. After boiling, strain it to remove leaves. Use this water to rinse your hair. Rosemary works effectively against hair loss and promotes proper blood circulation.

I’m 23 year old female. I’ve been losing hair for 6 year. It seems like I have female pattern baldness. I’ve just started to use Derma Roller on my scalp and then I put a mixture I made out of Sweet Onion Juice mixed with Lavender oil, Jamaican Black Castor oil, Emu Oil, rice water, Vitamin E oil, Harmony essential oil by Edens Garden, coffee and white ice pure honey. Is it ok to mix all of these together? How many days per week can I use it? Has anyone tried mixing couple of ingredients and does it work?
